Alex Romero is the Founding Editor of Speakeasy Magazine. A second-year MFA student at Columbia University, he holds a BA from Sarah Lawrence College. He is a staff writer for Surging Tide Magazine. His words have been recently published or are forthcoming in Literary Hub, Fugue Journal, Maudlin House, Roi Fainéant Press, The Coachella Review, and other places. His short story, “Our Little Manila,” was selected by Tia Clark as a finalist for the Plentitudes Prize in Fiction. He is the recipient of scholarships and fellowships from Lambda Literary, Key West Literary Seminar, the Joseph F. McCrindle Foundation, Tin House, and more. A Queens native, he is a lifelong resident of New York, where he is writing a novel. 

Jorge Sanders is the Editor-in-Chief of Speakeasy Magazine. An artist and filmmaker from Queens, New York, he studies and resides in Swannanoa, North Carolina. His medium of choice changes often, but he is currently focusing on electronic music production and live performance. He is also co-founder of Komorebi NYC, a company that produces designer playing cards. He spends his days practicing cardistry and his nights listening to techno wishing he was at a rave.
